Álvaro Romero-Calvo is a PhD student in Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Seville (Spain) in 2016, and his double master’s degree in aeronautical and space engineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2019. His research lies at the intersection between electromagnetism and fluid mechanics in microgravity, with a focus on propellant slosh control and electrolysis-based ISRU. He also works on the development of novel spacecraft potential sensing methods and related space technologies. Álvaro has led the design and execution of international microgravity experiments for the ESA Drop Your Thesis! 2017 and the UNOOSA DropTES 2019 Programmes, and has recently received the ASGSR Ken Souza Award to fly a microgravity experiment at Blue Origin’s New Shepard. He has been awarded the La Caixa, Fulbright, CU Boulder Engineering Dean’s Graduate, and Erasmus+ Fellowships.
