ASGSR 2026 Call for Award Nominations & Applications
From Atoms to Astronauts: Transformative Science for a New Era of Exploration
The American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR) is now accepting nominations and applications for its annual awards. These awards recognize outstanding scientific achievement, dedicated service to the Society, and excellence among our professional and student members.
Award recipients will be recognized during the closing ceremony at the 2026 ASGSR Annual Meeting, taking place December 2–5, 2026, in Crystal City, Virginia.
Professional Member Awards
ASGSR is accepting nominations for the following professional awards:
- Founder’s Award – The Society’s highest honor, recognizing a lifetime of distinguished scientific contributions and leadership in gravitational and space research.
- Orr Reynolds Distinguished Service Award – Presented to an individual who has provided distinguished service to ASGSR above and beyond the call of duty.
- ASGSR Fellows – Recognizes members for sustained excellence and significant contributions to gravitational and space research and to the Society.
- Mid-Career Award – Honors a mid-career scientist who has demonstrated exceptional scientific achievement and leadership in the field.
- Thora Halstead Early Career Award – Recognizes an early career scientist who exemplifies Thora Halstead’s enthusiasm for science and has made significant contributions to gravitational and space research.

To nominate a candidate, please complete the Professional Awards Nomination Form by September 10, 2026. Nominations must include:
- Nominee’s name and professional affiliation
- A nomination letter (approximately two pages) describing why the nominee is deserving of the award
- The nominee’s curriculum vitae (CV)

Student Awards
Applications are also being accepted for the following student awards:
- ASGSR Student Design Award – Your artwork could become the symbol of the conference, representing the spirit of exploration, discovery, and collaboration.
- ASGSR Student Creative Challenge Award – This award is your chance to get creative and express how space exploration makes you feel, beyond the data of space science!
- ASGSR Student Impact Award – This is your opportunity to gather your community together and help make an impact for advancing space exploration!
- Inspiration Scholarship – The ASGSR Inspiration Scholarship is designed to help inspire and motivate deserving students who, through any hardships, may have never considered that they can become the space scientists of the future.
