⭐ STEAM Foundation Promising Student Research Award

Recognizing & supporting undergraduate and graduate student researchers

Multiple awards of $500 or $1,000 will be made to promising undergraduate and graduate students based on abstract reviews and need-based input provided at the time of abstract submission. All awards carry the same title: “STEAM Foundation Promising Student Research Award.”

$500Merit-based or need-based
$1,000Merit-based or need-based
Eligibility

All undergraduate and graduate students who are the primary/presenting authors of abstracts submitted by the student abstract deadline are eligible. Awards are not transferable to other students included in the abstract submission.

Funds Available

Funding is raised by the ASGSR STEAM Foundation. Funds available on June 1st will be used to make awards for that year. Funds raised after June 1st may support additional awards or roll over to the following year’s budget.

Determination of Award

The Conference Review Committee will make an equal number of $500 and $1,000 awards for merit-based and need-based promising student research, as determined by review and scoring of abstracts and need-statements submitted by students at the time of abstract submission.

Announcement of Award

Awards will be announced at the time of announcement of abstract selections and approvals for poster or presentation at the Conference, expected in the August timeframe.

Purpose of Award

The purpose of the award is to recognize promising students and their research projects, and to assist the students who are primary authors to attend the ASGSR conference and present the results of their research work at the meeting.

Receiving and Payment of Award

Students will receive a certificate of award and payment at the ASGSR conference. Students are expected to attend in-person and present their work in order to receive their award. The ASGSR Executive Committee will determine if exceptions may be granted. This is a scholarship-style award — no travel expenses or receipts are required for reimbursement.

Recognition for Students

Students will be recognized at a gathering during the ASGSR Conference. The time and place will be included in the conference agenda and announced at least one week prior to the start of the conference. Students will also be recognized on the ASGSR website after the conclusion of the conference.

Recognition for Donors

Individual donors contributing $500 or more, and corporate donors contributing $1,000 or more, will be credited by name on the student certificate of award. All donors receive a receipt/certificate, a summary of awards, and individual student impact statements at the conclusion of the conference. Donors may also be recognized on the ASGSR website and at the awards presentation.

Support the next generation of space and gravitational researchers.
