When we step outside and look up at the stars, we can’t help but imagine all sorts of possibilities. What do you imagine when you look up at the stars? Have you ever thought about becoming a space (yes, outer space!) biologist, but never thought something like this was possible because of your financial or cultural circumstances?
Thanks to Laurence Davin and Norman Lewis, two avid space biologists, you have an opportunity to explore space biology as well. The Inspiration Scholarship hopes to inspire you to explore space biology and pursue this in college.
Two $1000 scholarship recipients will be selected.
Eligibility and Details
The ASGSR Inspiration Scholarship: Laurence Davin and Norman Lewis Prize is designed to help inspire and motivate deserving students who, through financial or cultural circumstances, may never have considered that they can become the space life scientists of the future.
Students may apply should they meet the following criteria:
– Families facing some hardship
– High school junior or senior
– Provide an unofficial transcript
– At least one letter of recommendation
Students could use the funding as either a scholarship for defraying costs associated with attending college/university or as funding to conduct a science project or some combination. Students are expected to be supported by either one or two letters of recommendation. Ideally, the writer will be a mentor, teacher, or supervisor. Letter(s) must be sent by email (and by the recommender) to students@asgsr.org. Letters MUST be submitted by the application deadline.
Applications will be reviewed and scored by a committee; two $1000 scholarships will be awarded. Any questions may be directed by email to students@asgsr.org.
