There will be hotel rooms available at the Crystal Gateway Marriott located at 1700 Richmond Highway, Arlington, Virginia for attendees at the government per diem rate. All attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations.

  • Metrorail: Take the Silver Line train directly from the airport station toward Downtown DC/Largo. Transfer at the Rosslyn Station to the Blue Line (heading toward Franconia-Springfield) and exit at the Crystal City Station. The hotel is directly accessible from the station. The trip takes about 60 minutes and costs roughly $4.00 – $6.00 depending on peak hours.
  • Rideshare / Taxi: Uber, Lyft, and local taxis are readily available at the arrivals level. A one-way ride typically takes 35 to 45 minutes and averages $60 – $80.

  • Train & Metrorail: Take the complimentary BWI airport shuttle to the nearby BWI Rail Station. Board either an Amtrak Northeast Regional or a Maryland MARC Penn Line train to Union Station in Washington, D.C. From Union Station, take the Metro Red Line (toward Shady Grove), transfer at Gallery Place to the Yellow Line (toward Huntington), and exit at the Crystal City Station. Total transit time is roughly 75 to 90 minutes.
  • Rideshare / Taxi: Uber, Lyft, and local taxis are located outside baggage claim. Due to the distance and potential peak traffic along the I-95 corridor, a one-way trip takes 50 to 75 minutes and costs approximately $75 – $110.

Local Attractions
  • A short walk (about a block) from the hotel, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington’s Innovation Studio+Store, located on the lower level of the Amazon HQ building, offers a quiet creative space to decompress between conference sessions.
  • Also, about a block away, Metropolitan Park is home to the Queen City Art Installation, offering a pleasant outdoor space to relax between sessions.
  • Across the street from the hotel, National Landing Water Park offers outdoor entertainment and a lively atmosphere for unwinding after a long conference day.

  • Along South Eads Street, near Metropolitan Park, you’ll find several cafés and restaurants including Maman and Good Company Doughnuts.
  • Through the connected mall on the other side of the hotel, Crystal Drive offers a wide range of dining options, including Day Drift Books & Café and numerous restaurants, along with everyday conveniences like Whole Foods and CVS.
  • National Landing Water Park also features casual dining options and outdoor seating, just across the street from the hotel.

Transportation

The Crystal Gateway Marriott connects directly, via an indoor underground walkway, to the Crystal City Metro station and the Underground at Crystal City shopping mall, with no need to go outside. From there, the Blue and Yellow Metro lines provide quick access throughout the D.C. area, including downtown and the National Mall.

ASGSR welcomes professional and respectful photography, video, and social media engagement during the Annual Meeting. This policy is intended to support open scientific discussion, protect presenter preferences and intellectual property, and help attendees share meeting experiences appropriately.

Photography Guidelines
  • Photography by attendees for personal use and social media is permitted at social events, in the exhibit hall, and in public spaces throughout the ASGSR Annual Meeting.
  • Photography during scientific sessions, lectures, poster sessions, plenaries, and workshops is also permitted unless otherwise indicated by the presenter.
Attendee Expectations
  • Attendees should not photograph individuals under 18 years of age without explicit verbal or written permission from a parent or guardian.
  • Attendees are also expected to respect the preferences of presenters who indicate that photography is not permitted.
No Photo / No Recording RequestsPresenters may communicate a “no photo/no recording” preference verbally, through signage, or on presentation slides or posters. ASGSR reserves the right to support and enforce presenter preferences regarding photography and recording.
Sharing Presentation Content
  • When sharing photographs of presentations, slides, posters, or presenters on social media or elsewhere, presenters should be identified and credited by name.
  • Photographs of presentations, slides, posters, or other meeting materials are for personal educational use only and may not be reproduced, distributed, published, or used commercially without permission from the presenter or copyright holder.
Restricted Materials
  • Do not photograph materials labeled confidential, proprietary, or restricted.
  • Attendees should also avoid sharing confidential, proprietary, unpublished, or sensitive research information without permission.
Audio and Video Recording
  • Audio and video recording by attendees is permitted only in public areas, social events, and the exhibit hall unless otherwise posted.
  • Recording of scientific sessions, oral presentations, plenaries, workshops, keynotes, poster presentations, or lectures is prohibited unless explicit permission has been granted by the presenter and ASGSR.
Livestreaming and Broadcasting
  • Livestreaming or broadcasting presentations without permission is prohibited.
  • Attendees should not record minors without permission from a parent or guardian and should be respectful and considerate of presenters and fellow attendees at all times.
Official ASGSR MediaASGSR staff, contractors, or authorized media representatives may capture official photos, video, or audio during the meeting for archival, educational, promotional, and marketing purposes. Attendance at or participation in the ASGSR Annual Meeting constitutes consent to the use and distribution by ASGSR and its representatives of the attendee’s image, likeness, name, and voice in photographs, video recordings, livestreams, and other media for educational, promotional, marketing, archival, and reporting purposes related to ASGSR programs and activities.
Social MediaASGSR welcomes professional and respectful social media engagement during the Annual Meeting, including live posting from scientific sessions where permitted by presenters. When posting on social media, attendees should:
